Getting started

What does Tell do?

Tell reads public evidence about companies (job posts, funding filings, company websites, LinkedIn and X) and checks each piece against what you sell. You get a ranked list of companies with a reason to buy now, each with the sentence or filing that proves it.

How do I start?

Paste your website. Tell works out who buys from you and who you compete with, and your first list is ready in about a minute. The first list is free and you don't need a card.

Tell got my market wrong. What do I do?

Add a sentence about what you sell when Tell asks, or open Settings → Profiles and run the detection again. If your site is hard to read, the sentence is what Tell uses.

I didn't get the confirmation email.

Check your spam folder. In the app, the banner at the top has a Resend button. Your 1,000 starting credits arrive when the email is confirmed.

Can I use Tell for more than one business?

Yes. Each website you sell for gets its own profile and Inbox, on the same plan.

Signals

Where do signals come from?

Job boards (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, SmartRecruiters and others), SEC Form D filings, company websites, the LinkedIn pages and people you choose to follow, X and Hacker News, and the target accounts you add. Tell checks them every day.

What do Work this and Not a fit do?

They teach Tell what matters to you: companies like the ones you work move up, and companies like the ones you reject move down. Marking a signal Not a fit before you work it also gives back any credits it used.

Can signals go to Slack or my CRM?

Yes. Connect Slack, HubSpot or a webhook in Integrations and new signals arrive there as they're found. Connect Apollo to find the person behind each signal, with their email.

Does Tell write messages for me?

No. Tell finds and checks the evidence and tells you why it matters. The first message is yours; the evidence is what makes it land.

Credits and billing

What's included and what uses credits?

Hiring leads, target accounts, funding, hiring pace, website tools, annual reports and the account dossier are included. Credits pay only for results from paid sources: 1 credit per useful post on X, per target account post worth reaching out about, and per person you track for job changes each month; 2 credits per likely buyer engaging with your competitors on LinkedIn and per company found using a competitor's product; 50 credits a month per competitor you watch. Anything that spends credits starts switched off.

How do budgets work?

Each module that spends credits on its own has a monthly budget you set in Settings → Credits. You're told at 80%, and at 100% automatic runs pause until the next period or until you raise it.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Automatic runs pause and we email you. On Pro you can turn on extra credits at $0.15 each, up to a dollar cap you choose; they're billed on the next invoice.

How much does Tell cost?

The first list is free. Pro is $259 a month with 2,000 credits a month, every domain you sell for, and Slack, webhooks, HubSpot and Apollo. For more seats, Salesforce or API access, write to us about Team. Details on the pricing section.

How do I cancel or change my card?

Settings → Credits → Card, invoices and plan opens the Stripe billing portal, where you can update your card, download invoices or cancel. There's no contract; cancelling stops the next renewal.

Your account

I forgot my password.

Use Forgot your password on the log-in page. The link we email works for an hour and logs out every other device once you choose a new password.

How do I change my email?

Settings → Account → Email. We send a link to the new address; the change happens when you click it, and the old address gets a notice.

How do I stop emails from Tell?

Settings → Account → Emails, or the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any tip or reminder. Account and billing notices, like running out of credits, still come.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete account. It cancels any subscription right away and deletes your data. It can't be undone.

What do you do with my data?

We use it to run Tell for you and nothing else. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
